Sweaty Girlz

Over the last few months, I've had the distinct, enriching, and completely absurd pleasure of creating the entire soundtrack for 'Sweaty Girlz,' a stage play/interactive comedy/dance performance created by and starring Zendra Giraudo, Jo Cooper, and Marli Jupiter. The show is a funny, foul exploration of the paradoxical relationship between identity expressed through clothing and the dystopia of fast fashion, using the advent of rainbow capitalism as the nexus point for this twisted connection.
The music was quite a hilarious undertaking, being completely outside of anything i would have dreamed of making in the past: corporate soulless advertisement tracks, fast fashion runway music, bad showgirls cabaret with diva vocals, game show countdown songs, 2010s Millennial vine/meme collages, and extremely disquieting soundscapes of dystopian pig-farm-nightmare ambient.
"Liam Downey, as composer/sound designer, has delivered us a perfect satirical gameshow intro and pop sound scapes that truely transport us to this hyper commercialised queer hellscape." - Riley Jackson, Magazine6000
